Kevin Hart will not hesitate to answer questions about his marital status. He begins, “I am amazing,” and then continues, “I am amazing because I get it now.”
Over a year has passed since the well-known comedian and actor reportedly survived a scаndаl with a close friend attempting to blackmail him over a tape purportedly showing him infidelity. Hart has apologized on social media for his “bad error in judgment” to his then-pregnant wife Eniko. A few months later, the couple had son Kenzo, their first child together.
The 39-year-old actor spoke up to PEOPLE in this week’s issue about stardom, fatherhood, and how he and Eniko, 34, tried to rescue their marriage. The star is back on the big screen with the upcoming comedy Night School, which he produced and stars in opposite friend Tiffany Haddish.
“My wife and I have an unbelievable friendship. Yes, it is my wife; yes, we are lovers in a marriage-like relationship, but our friendship is unmatched.”
Hart continues, “Our marriage has been put to the test,” making reference to the scаndаl surrounding his infidelity. It’s the hardest test I’ve ever taken. You know, sometimes stupidity is what causes such tests. However, what matters is how you respond to it and choose to move on.
Eniko made the decision to forgive completely. Hart says, “I’m proud of my wife for simply exhibiting a level of strength that I can’t even describe.” “I salute her for being my pillar of strength, my source of support, and—above all—for elevating my life to new heights.”
Regarding the adjustments he’s made, Hart adds, “I’m amazing because I have no problem being an open book, real, and authentic.” “And it’s not outside your house that I meаn; it’s inside your house.”
“The word ‘friendship’ is a real word, you know, that word ‘best friend’ is a real word,” he goes on, “when you get to a point where you’re that open, and you’re that understanding, and knowing of one another.”
After ten years of dating, the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary last month. Hart, who is also the father of Hendrix, 10, and Heaven, 13, from a previous marriage, claims that their bond is stronger than it has ever been.
Hart claims, “We love each other even more now that we’ve passed the tests.” “It helped us appreciate our relationship even more.”
Hart is also taking stock of everything for which he is grateful. “The things I have in life—money, entertainment, and movies—are wonderful and blessings, but that woman is solely to blame for the happy place I’ve ended up in.”
