Cole Palmer received a great complement from Joe Cole when he was named the “signing of the season” following yet another outstanding Chelsea performance.
Palmer left his childhood club, Manchester City, to join Stamford Bridge for a reported £42.5 million in the summer. In west London, he has been able to secure greater playing time in the first squad.
Palmer has been Chelsea’s important player up top after joining the team during yet another pricey transfer window. In a thrilling 4-3 victory over Manchester United, Palmer scored a hat-trick.
Despite all of the attention paid to Chelsea’s inconsistent play throughout 2023–24, Palmer’s steadfast composure has been a much-needed bright spot at Stamford Bridge.
With just 21 years old, the forward is already a strong candidate to travel to Germany this summer for the European Championship. Cole was all praise for the attacker’s professionalism, composure, and talent.
The way he was speaking to Jules after scoring a last-minute goal was even more amazing, the former Blues player said on TNT Sports. “It looked like he just got off the sofa, he’s got his cocoa in his hand, and he’s ready for bed.”
Palmer, who also scored twice from the spot to tie the game in the centenary, is so composed for his young age that he has drawn similarities to another rising English star.
Cole went on, “He’s the coolest man in the building.” These admirers adore him. Since there aren’t any seasoned players in the area, you’re searching for someone with magic. Jude Bellingham is not twenty years old when you watch him.
You experience Cole Palmer in the same way. How can Manchester United allow their greatest player to have time to take a touch in the box and score at such a pivotal moment in the game?
“Even he must be wondering what the heck is going on.” How did I manage this time? He has been outstanding. Signing of the season, I would say.
He’s grabbed this team by the scruff of the neck and declared them to be his. I will be the one to carry this squad to victory. Definitely assemble a group around him. His disposition is ideal for it. No one was expecting him to miss this. As cool as you wish.
Palmer mentioned that the Blues’ victory could provide much-needed “momentum” following a difficult season.
After the triumph, Chelsea is now ranked 10th, although few Blues supporters will be focusing on that after Thursday night’s incredible Premier League football match.
Conor Gallagher’s first goal in the fourth minute gave the hosts the lead, while Palmer’s second goal on the 19th minute gave the Blues a 1-0 lead.
However, United had leveled by halftime, with to goals from Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho for Erik ten Hag’s team.
After a magnificent trevola assist from Antony, Garnacho made it 3-2 as the game twisted once more, but Palmer got the final laugh—two times, in fact—with his icy late strikes.
Prior to the match, the club-supporter relationship appeared to be at an all-time low. Mauricio Pochettino was under increasing criticism following his team’s disappointing campaign, but it appears that this scrutiny is now diminishing in light of his team’s valiant performance.
