Athletic director Fred of Fluminense acknowledges that Thiago Silva is still a “dream” addition for the team.
The 39-year-old’s Chelsea contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and it appears that the Blues are considering center backs in front of the summer transfer market.
Leny Yoro of Lille is a target at Stamford Bridge following an outstanding campaign for the French team, although Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping an eye on the player.
Other names that have been considered include Nice’s Jean-Clair Todio and Sporting’s Ousmane Diomande. The Blues are also keeping an eye on a new striker and a left-back.
After being referred to be the “Benjamin Button of football” by previous Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, Silva has been sidelined for Chelsea’s last three games by Maurico Pochettino, despite an ιnjury crisis that has limited his alternatives.
The incredibly seasoned defender is believed to have had proposals from Fluminense, a number of Brazilian teams, and Al-Nassr, a Saudi Arabian team.
Prior to playing again for Fluminense between 2006 and 2009, he began his career there.
“Thiago Silva has been a dream of ours for a long time; the president talks to him almost every week,” Fred stated in an interview with ESPN Brasil.
“We’re cheering for Thiago, who has a contract in England. I’m a friend of his and a huge fan of his character; I hope the best for him.” He is aware that there are many open doors for him to come back here.
Nothing [imminent] is present.
We must take care not to put Thiago under undue strеss. Thiago is adored by his followers, ourselves, and Fluminense. It’s the player’s and the club’s wish, and we hope it happens as quickly as possible, but it will undoubtedly happen one day.
