Cole Palmer, a Chelsea native who was born in Manchester, is still having a great time at this phase of his life.
Despite a terrible season at Stamford Bridge, the 21-year-old has been the star player and keeps setting records.
His most recent occurred after he scored the game’s first goal in the 13th minute of Monday’s Premier League matchup against Everton.
Palmer outwitted Jarrad Branthwaite, the Toffees’ defender, before he and Nicolas Jackson executed a beautiful one-two and Palmer scored a low shot from 20 yards out.
The England international became the first Blues player to score in seven consecutive Premier League games at home after that single performance.
Five minutes later, he added a second, and then he made it two goals in a row at the Bridge, adding a penalty to further inflict further suffering on Sean Dyche’s team.
As they sаy, “home is where the heart is.”
Cole Palmer’s hat-trιck against Everton has hurt Erling Haaland and Ollie Watkins’ hopes of winning the Premier League Golden Boot this season. The former Manchester City star scored three goals in the first half as Chelsea easily defeated the Toffees on Monday night at Stamford Bridge.
Palmer scored inside the first 15 minutes of play, guiding the ball past Jordan Pickford following a one-two with Nicolas Jackson that split Sean Dyche’s defense. The 21-year-old midfielder was the first to respond, nodding the ball into an empty net a matter of minutes later.
Palmer scored to double the advantage for the west London team after the Everton goalkeeper stopped a shot from Jackson that found its way into the middle of the six-yard box. The third goal completed the ‘perfect’ hat-trιck, and Pickford was at fault once more.
Palmer used his weaker right foot to lob his fellow countryman from 40 yards after intercepting a careless ball intended for Amadou Onana. Then, at the hour, he added to his total with a penalty.
In the competition for the Golden Boot, the Chelsea star has now passed Ollie Watkins, Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, and Dominic Solanke. Palmer, who has scored 20 goals so far this season, is now rubbing elbows with Erling Haaland.
Football.london has thus looked at the most recent odds from OddsChecker as the competition to be the top scorer heats up. Palmer is favored at 9/2, while Haaland is still the favorite at 8/11. While Watkins is priced at 6/1, Salah and Isak are 14/1 and 14/1, respectively.
With six goals this season, Gabriel Martinelli is still an outsider at 14/5. However, Jamie Carragher and Dele Alli discussed Palmer’s hat-trιck on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football program.
The veteran defender for Liverpool added, “This boy has been incredible all season.” This season, he has been among the Premier League’s finest players. I am aware that Chelsea has had a difficult season.
“Everton was playing very aggressively and trying to press very high, which gave them joy in the beginning, but it also caused them trouble since Chelsea was able to find space between the lines when they beаt the press like they did here thanks to Cole Palmer.
“He plays a little one-two with his teammate Jackson, megs [Jarrad] Branthwaite, and then he simply opens his foot up and finds that far corner. This is really amazing when it comes to poise and elegance.
“You can always pick holes in goals defensively, but this for me is absolutely sensational for one of the best players in the Premier League.”
“I haven’t seen it before but chances like this one, he is the only one following up the play and that is a striker’s goal,” remarked the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder in reference to Palmer’s second goal. He’s the first to respond because he knows the keeper will make the save.”
Carragher continued, “Jordan Pickford has had a nightmare,” after his third. I don’t know why he’s attempting to get through Chelsea with his right foot here, and he ought to have performed better on the second goal.
“Although he has a fantastic left foot, there is a difference between the way an outfield player and a goalie use their right feet. Even if Tarkowski should have had a better first touch, the finish with your weaker foot is excellent.
