Nicolas Jackson aims to finish the season with 20 goals after equaling the number of Premier League goals scored by Didier Drogba in his first season

Nicolas Jackson is keen to end his first Chelsea season with a bаng, and he won’t jeopardize that by reliving the penalty row incident that overshadowed his positive performance against Everton.

According to Telegraph Sport, Jackson hopes to end the Premier League season with at least 15 goals, and he believes that 20 goals in all competitions may be possible. On Saturday, Chelsea will play Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley.

Jackson is now just three goals shy of the former Ivory Coast international’s record-setting 16 League goals from his debut season at Chelsea. Jackson has now matched Drogba’s tally of 16 goals.

After the final whistle on Monday night, Jackson was comforted by his close friend and teammate Moises Caicedo on the Stamford Bridge field. It is thought that Jackson heeded head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s warning that the penalty row incident involving Jackson and Madueke must not be repeated.

This season, Madueke has netted two penalties for Chelsea; the first came in the 89th minute against Crystal Palace while Jackson was also playing. Both goals came when Palmer was off the field.

Jackson may have had a misplaced desire to prove his hunger for goals by attempting to take what would have been his first penalty of the season against Everton. Jackson saw pundits like Alan Shearer and Peter Crouch call into question his instincts as a natural striker and goalscorer earlier in the season.

In stark contrast to his refusal to condemn Raheem Sterling for accepting a penalty against Leicester City in the FA Cup last month after requesting the ball from Palmer, Pochettino responded strongly to Jackson and Madueke’s argument over Monday night’s decision.

Jackson has been working hard to try to win over supporters, so he is not expected to do anything that could jeopardize his position on the squad or his relationship with them.

In an exclusive interview with Telegraph Sport, Jackson expressed regret for an incident with a fan during the team’s October home loss to Brentford. Since then, the 22-year-old has shown that he can block out outside distractions and concentrate on his play.

Jackson and Madueke will not face punishment for their time on penalty row, according to Pochettino, but he issued a warning: anyone who replicates the act in the future will be “out.”

Jackson’s first season at Stamford Bridge after joining from Villarreal has shown the street warrior in him, who was still playing barefoot in Senegal just over six years ago, but he has also shown a willingness and capacity to learn from his mistakes.

Jackson’s improvement in finishing was demonstrated by the goal against Everton, which came from excellent control and a shot on the turn. He also demonstrated his awareness by providing his sixth assist of the season for Palmer’s opening goal of an incredible evening. Chelsea should be encouraged by their increasing knowledge of one another.

After receiving his initial one-game suspension for five bookings in his first six League outings for Chelsea, Jackson was booked for the ninth time against Crystal Palace on February 12, making it seem certain that he would receive a second ban of the season.

However, after receiving his booking at Palace, he has been yellow-card free for seven League games, the greatest streak of the season, and has put him in dаnger of serving a second suspension.

With eight games left, including a return to Wembley, and Drogba’s League total for the first season already tied, Jackson is confident he can round off his debut season with a win, even if he chooses not to attempt to increase his stats from the penalty spot.
