Taylor Swift, the “Chairman of the Tortured Poets Department,” will hold a meeting to release her latest album.
Swift has remained mostly mum on her 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” but we may still learn some things from her.
First things first: “The Tortured Poets Department” will be released on Friday at midnight Eastern, or Thursday at 9 p.m. on the West Coast, and the first music video, whose song is unknown, will be released Friday at 8 p.m. EDT.
The songs
The album has 16 tracks and one additional track, “The Manuscript,” and has collaborations with Post Malone on “Fortnight” and Florence + The Machine on “Florida!!!”
There will also be three vinyl versions with bonus tracks: “The Bolter,” “The Albatross,” and “The Black Dog.”
The schedule
Swift disclosed the record in February when accepting a Grammy for best pop vocal album for 2022’s “Midnights,” saying she’s kept it a “sеcrеt” for two years.
Swift announced at a “Eras Tour” event in Tokyo a few days later that she started “Tortured Poets” directly after finishing “Midnights.”
“I kept working on it throughout the US tour and when it was perfect, in my opinion, when it was good enough for you, I finished it,” she added, according to social media footage of the concert.
Theme
At a “Eras Tour” event in Melbourne in February, Swift said “Tortured Poets” was “more than any of my albums that I ever made, I needed to make it.”
“It saved me. Just the things I was going through, the things I was writing about, reminded me why songwriting gets me through my life, performance footage posted on social media indicated. “I’ve never needed songwriting more than on ‘Tortured Poets.’”
She would not divulge the album’s sound, but all clues point to it being about heartbreak, which can take various forms.
A mood
Joining the dots: Swift released Apple Music playlists about the five phases of heartbreak this month. Each playlist includes songs from her library for denial, rage, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
The playlist titles are lyrics Swift teased on Instagram.
Swift’s albums, except for 2020’s “Folklore,” are autobiographical and focus on her romantic relationships.
Swift may not be hurting in her romance with three-time Suρer Bowl champion Travis Kelce. Swift ended her six-year romance with Joe Alwyn in April 2023, according to CNN.
Swift discussed when she composed this record, so we can draw our own conclusions.
Heartbreak isn’t restricted to romance. We’ll keep it blank since it might meаn anything.
