Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, appeared to corroborate fan rumors that “So High School” is about him.
On the “New Heights” podcast’s X account, the 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs player referenced a “So High School” lyric that referenced him and his father, Ed Kelce. This track featured on Swift’s double CD, “The Tortured Poets Department: Anthology,” published Friday.
“I feel like laughing in the middle of practice / To that impression you did of your dad again,” the 14-time Grammy winner sung in “So High School.” “I’m hearing voices like a madman.”
On “New Heights,” which he hosts with brother Jason Kelce, 36, Kelce imitates Ed. Shortly after the album arrived, “New Heights” X posted a vintage film of Travis and Jason joking about Ed with the remark, “Those Papa Kelce impressions are just too good.”
Travis and Jason joked about their father’s requirement they finish their mashed potatoes before leaving supper in the video.
“If there’s one way to pιss Ed Kelce off, it’s not finishing the food on your plate,” he stated. Dad, these mashed potatoes are great! Hungry Jack mashed potatoes.”
“With five sticks of butter,” Travis said.
“You better eat that food and be thankful,” Jason impersonated Ed.
“I don’t want to eat it,” Travis joked, whining.
“You’re not getting up until you finish your food,” Jason imitated Ed.
“But I don’t want to eat it,” Travis said. “Ed, let him up!”
“No, he’ll finish his food,” Jason said.
Travis said, “And be thankful,” emulating Ed.
Swifties swiftly responded to the apparent “So High School” reference.
“Congrats that Travis & his dad have made it to his Taylor’s album,” a fan said.
“I see what you are doing,” said another social media user.
“New heights social media intern is QUICK with these references,” exclaimed another X user
“I see you’ve listened to so high school,” said an admirer.
“Omg well done,” said another X user. “Ed has made it into the Taylorverse already lol.”
Swift met Ed in Travis’ Kansas City house after attending 13 of her boyfriend’s games last season. Ed told Audacy 92.3’s “Baskin & Phelps” radio show in January that he didn’t identify the “Blank Space” singer when she arrived to Travis’ residence.
Ed added that Travis usually hosts his buddies at his place before home games and takes them to the stadium by shuttle. He said 20 individuals generally show there, and he’s met some but can’t place everyone.
“And Taylor comes in, walks in with a security guard, and I look at her,” Ed said. “I was with my girlfriend and told Maureen [Maguire], ‘Oh, my god, I know this kid, but I don’t know her nаme.’” Wow, like an idiot.”
Ed stated Maureen remarked, “You don’t know her?” You stupiԀ, this is Taylor Swift.”
Ed and the Kelce family have grown close to Swift, who announced her relationship with the NFL star in September.
Fans found other Kelce-related lyrics in “So High School”.
“You know how to ball, I know Aristotle, brand new, full throttle,” Swift said. “Touch me while your brothers play GTA. Scouts do honor, swear. You knew what you wаnted and got her.”
Besides Kelce’s football career, the lyrics referenced his recent comments about how he landed Swift.
She wasn’t into athletics, so I don’t know how I did it. “I don’t know how the f— I did it,” he stated on “New Heights.”
Swift also referenced Kelce’s 2016 AfterBuzz TV interview where he played “Kiss, Marry, Kιll.” The first round required Kelce to pick a Swift, Grande, or Perry category.
Dаmn, that’s bad. Three-time Suρer Bowl champion remarked, “I don’t want to kιll any of them,” but finished the round.
“Ariana, sorry, love you, but you’re gone,” Kelce joked. The kiss would be by Taylor Swift. Which is the last? Katy Perry? Yes, Katy Perry would marry.”
“So High School,” Swift sung, “Marry, kiss, or murԀer me? It’s a game, but I’m betting on all three for us two.”
Next lyric suggested the couple’s first public appearance, when Kelce opened a car door for Swift.
“Receive my car door, how cool? Pull me into the backseat—no one has had me like you.”
