Chelsea Football Club is still involved in their recovery process. Apparently, anyhow.
The match against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night will feature just 14 (fourteen) first-team players for Mauricio Pochettino’s club. The issues that have ruined a whole season have not been resolved; on the contrary, they have become worse.
Sadly, on Wednesday afternoon at Cobham, the manager was only able to add to an already extensive pre-match ιnjury list. “No good news because we cannot recover any players from the list,” he stated. “But have added Thiago [Silva] and Disasi, they will not be available for tomorrow.”
Chelsea had previously left out twelve players due to their weekend trip to Aston Villa. Due to surgery last week, Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, and Enzo Fernandez are all out for the season.
Lesley Ugochukwu has spent the last several days working with a number of players who should be returning to the team to resume both partial and full training. He hasn’t played in 2024; his last competitive appearance was on Christmas Eve.
Although Reece James has expedited his own recuperation, Christopher Nkunku and Levi Colwill are receiving greater attention. Tottenham arrives too soon, despite their diligent training at Cobham to get fit.
“They were exercising as usual today,” Pochettino said of the pair. “Today, Thursday, we got ready for the game by working on set pieces, practicing tactics, and holding meetings.
Although they are on the line and almost [there], they have not yet crossed it. Maybe they’ll be ready for Sunday’s match against West Ham. We anticipate.
However, Robert Sanchez and Raheem Sterling are barely partially trained. Out of the 25 players, just 11 healthy seniors have made a league start this year.
A plethora of youthful players are anticipated to take their position in the squad. A number of players were signed as part of Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital’s big young recruitment campaign, while others were developed over years of training at the Surrey campus via various age groups.
Josh-Kofi Acheampong, Tyrique George, and Kiano Dyer are the most likely to start because they were in recent teams. Prior to the game, Leo Castledine, Zak Sturge, and Dujuan Richards all trained with the senior group.
Here, football.london makes an exact prediction on the team’s composition vs Tottenham. It is expected to be by far the youngest of the season.
