Chelsea is reportedly prepared to challenge Real Madrid, one of the biggest teams in the world, in an attempt to get a young player who has once again been connected to them.
As part of their recruiting strategy and future squad planning, the Blues have been aiming to sign a number of outstanding young players. This week, after signing Kendry Paez, they are now being connected to another 16-year-old.
Real Madrid is reportedly pursuing Franco Mastantuono, although Chelsea is also expected to become involved at this point.
MD cited sources from Argentina that Chelsea is prepared to figҺt for his signing. The €45 million release clause for Mastantuono increases to €50 million in the last ten days of the transfer window.
Several sources state that Real Madrid initiated conversations with Mastantuono last week. On Monday, it was revealed that Mastantuono will give Real Madrid priority in his next transfer. The River Plate superstar and Head Scout Juni Calafat have had conversations, and General Manager Jose Angel Sanchez has communicated with the team.
In light of the fact that Real Madrid is obviously the player’s “dream club” in this day and age and Chelsea is now nowhere near that level, it appears as though Chelsea may as well give up on this one at this point.
They were there not too long ago, though, and they want to return there soon under the new proprietors. But since it will take time, perhaps Chelsea should put more emphasis on the here and now and assemble a team that can lead them back to success as quickly as possible, rather than attempting to sign every gifted young player in the world!
