IMPORTANT COMEBACK: Reece James is happy with his assist on his return after nearly half a year of recovery
After almost six months off, defender Reece James made his comeback and helped Nicolas Jackson seal a 3-2 victory for Chelsea of Nottingham.
Reece James’s perception on the day of return
Conor Gallagher was replaced by Reece James in the 79th minute by head coach Mauricio Pochettino. After taking a five-month break owing to ιnjury, the English defender made his way back onto the field.
It took Reece James just three minutes to establish his value. He found himself in a position where he could go all the way down to the boundary and then make a cross that would have destroyed the Nottingham defence.
Nicolas Jackson headed easily into the empty net because of that. Chelsea won 3-2 thanks to this goal, which puts the Blues one step closer to earning a spot in the Europa League the following year.
After Reece James scored a fantastic goal to assist Chelsea win three crucial points, he was unable to contain his joy. Following the game, the Blues skipper revealed:
“It’s wonderful to be back playing today. Five months have passed since I had to play. It was a challenging period.
It’s been a long time coming, but today is finally here. I’m thrilled to have a small part in assisting the team in getting fantastic outcomes.”
Reece James has not made much of an impact for Chelsea this season due to his ongoing injuries. He put forth a lot of effort with the Blues in the season’s closing games to help them reach their objective of securing spots in the Europa League for the next year.
