In Lisbon, Taylor Swift is starting to cry!
During the second show of her Eras Tour in Lisbon, Portugal on Saturday, May 25, the pop singer, 34, touched the hearts of the audience with a poignant speech. She talked about how much fun she is having performing there and described being in front of the Portuguese public as “an absolute dream”.
Swift stated that “we are currently in the Red era” of her act while standing center stage in a video from the event that was uploaded to X (formerly Twitter). She then talked about how she had previously released albums like Fearless, Speak Now, and Red and then gone on tours in support of them.
“And throughout those trips, we created a ton of enjoyable memories, but there’s one thing I wish I could have done differently: I wish I could have invited every tour group to visit you in Lisbon,” the singer went on.
“To be all of my favorite memories from those tours in the past and put them all in one show, so that now we can all experience those memories together,” she went on to say, explaining that she had created the Eras Tour. And for that reason, I believe, am I enjoying myself so much on this tour with you, Swift remarked to applause from the audience.
The vocalist went on, “I have to admit. Simply said, I have never in my life seen a crowd like this one. This play has already had times where I’ve been so engrossed in how much fun you’re having and how you’re acting for the audience that I’ve forgotten what I’m supposed to say or do next. I adore this.
“As performers, it’s truly amazing to be able to look you in the eye and establish a connection like this because you’re so present in the moment,” Swift went on.
“It’s an absolute dream to be here with you here tonight,” the singer continued. If you chance to have ten minutes or so to spare, there’s one song from the red album that I would want to play for you before I start sobbing. Do you have ten minutes to spare?”
Swift then started playing “All Too Well,” a 10-minute version.
On May 24 and 25, the singer played two performances in Lisbon as part of her Eras tour. She will be performing in Portugal for the first and second times throughout her tour.
Swift shocked her audience on Friday, May 24, by speaking Portuguese during her debut performance. In a video that The Hollywood Reporter on X released from the beginning of her performance, Swift said to the audience, “Muito obrigada,” which is Portuguese for “thank you very much.” According to videos shared on social media, the singer later in the performance called security in Portuguese as she asked for assistance for fans in the crowd.
She performed an acoustic guitar mashup of “The Tortured Poets Department,” the title track of her ground-breaking new album, and “Now That We Don’t Talk” from the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) vault as one of her surprise songs throughout the event.
